HOW TO PLANT YOUR TREES 4 STEP Based on 6ft Emerald Cedar

Step 1

Pick your spot where you want to plant the cedar trees.

Step 2

Mark the area your planting the cedar trees in with spray paint or string so you stay in a straight line. Then get to digging! Dig approx 16 inches in depth and 16 inches in width.

1) New soil vs existing soil - Although new topsoil is always recommended for best results, check to see if your soil drains well. Cedar trees prefer well drained soil to ensure the roots get water. Not sure? A quick easy way to test soil is take a shovel and dig up a part of the area the trees are going in. If its hard compact soil, it is probably better changed. Sprinkle bonemeal or transplant mix for best results.

Step 4

Install cedar trees typically 24 inches apart. Ensure rootballs are not touching. Put enough soil around the trees to ensure rootballs are sitting level with the ground. Water tonight. After watering step around the base of the cedar tree to ensure it stays upright. As water loosens soil around the base of the cedar tree, this step might need to be repeated a few times after watering.
